Diem Brown Cancer 2014: Chris ‘CT’ Tamburello Rushes To Star’s Hospital Bedside
Update: Diem Brown died on Friday, Nov. 14, at the age of 32 after a long battle with cancer. The reality-TV star announced in August that doctors found cancer in her stomach and colon. The cancer had spread to her liver and lymph nodes.
The original story follows below.
MTV star Diem Brown’s longtime on-again, off-again boyfriend Chris “CT” Tamburello rushed to her bedside after she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Brown previously beat ovarian cancer twice. Even though the former couple, who both appeared on MTV’s “The Challenge,” are no longer romantically involved, they clearly have a strong bond.
Tamburello took to Instagram and asked his more than 125,000 followers to donate to Brown's foundation, which is a gift registry she created to help people suffering from any illness. “Sometimes just being there for someone can be the difference between a good and bad day. @diembrown could definitely use a few,” he wrote. “Please go to her support page.” More than 16,500 people liked the post, which garnered hundreds of comments.
He followed up with another post, which was a screen shot of her support page. It has raised more than half of its goal $100,000 goal.
Brown, 32, was hospitalized in New York City Thursday after doctors discovered a tumor in her kidneys, People magazine reported. She was supposed to start chemotherapy last Tuesday.
"I was so frustrated that it seems my body keeps throwing me curve balls over and over," she told People. "It's hard to keep your spirit and your mind positive. ... But I'm glad we are catching these curve balls and fixing them, one by one."
"I was supposed to get my 'chemo cocktail,' but after they did the blood draw they saw a spike in my kidney levels, so they were only able to give me one of the two chemos," she said last Tuesday.
She took to Twitter Thursday to thank her fans and followers for their support.
Brown will most likely be released from the hospital Saturday.
