Dina Lohan talks about Lindsay’s troubles
Dina Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s mother, has finally opened up about her daughter’s struggle with addiction, rehabilitation and the charges of theft against her.
In interviews to ABC’s Good Morning America and Chris Cuomo on 20/20, Dina admitted that Lindsay will have a lifelong struggle with addiction. She told ABC News, I believe that Lindsay doesn't drink anymore, and I think it's gonna be a lifelong struggle with addiction. But I think she's gonna be okay.”
According to her, Lindsay’s troubles began when she moved to Los Angeles alone in 2004 and got involved with the wrong crowd. She said to Chris Cuomo, She's a young girl struggling. You know, she's not perfect... She's learning as she goes, but she's learning under a microscope, so I can't even imagine how that is.”
Dina Lohan has often been criticized for her parenting skills and her partying lifestyle.
She said that she was aware of her daughter’s doings but tried to handle the situation privately and alone. She even got her admitted to rehabilitation in 2007 but that did not work out as she got arrested for DUI just after that stint.
She was all praises for the Betty Ford Center and their efforts. “Betty Ford was life changing for all of us. I mean, I’ve put her in a couple of rehabs over the years, and, you know, it’s not about the rehab, it’s about where she is personally in her sobriety and her growth. She’s matured considerably.”
She said she was uncertain about Lindsay’s theft and felony charges outcome. She added that this was Hollywood and anything can happen in this town. Dina Lohan wanted the media to shift the glare off her daughter and let her come to grips with life out of the limelight.
In a related development, it seems that Lindsay has got back with her ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who has tweeted, “watching grey’s anatomy-my fav show- @lindsaylohan sleeping next 2 me- should i wake her up to let her know her mom is going on GMA? #why ?”
