Dionne Warwick has asked Jake Gyllenhaal to return Taylor Swift's scarf following the release of the 10-minute version of Swift's "All Too Well."
Warwick, 80, took to Twitter Monday to demand that the "Nightcrawler" actor give back his ex's scarf after Swift, 31, suggested in her rerecorded track that Gyllenhaal, 40, still has it all these years later. The "I Say a Little Prayer" singer even offered to pay the costs.
"If that young man has Taylor’s scarf, he should return it," Warwick tweeted.
"It does not belong to you. Box it up and I will pay the cost of postage, Jake," she added in a subsequent post.
The shipping company UPS chimed in on the banter and left a comment on her post that read, "This one's on us, Dionne. We’ll mail back your things (but we would never let you walk home alone) @taylorswift13."
Fans were also quick to join in after the "Walk On By" singer tweeted out her thoughts on Swift's track, with one Twitter user writing, "Return it, young man. The Queen said you have to."
Another wrote, "The president of Twitter has spoken. Return the scarf, Jake."
One person suggested that Swift was referring to more than just an accessory in her song, writing, "You all know the 'scarf' is just a metaphor for her virginity, right?"
But Swifties pointed out that "All Too Well" was likely referring to the striped scarf that Swift wore to Thanksgiving at Maggie Gyllenhaal's house in 2010 and that Gyllenhaal was also spotted wearing the same year.
"People keep saying that. But no. It is a scarf. She says he keeps it in his drawer to this day. Which is obviously true, since he wore it afterward," one wrote alongside photos of Swift and Gyllenhaal wearing similar-looking scarves.
"It's a literal scarf. The picture of him wearing it is from after they broke up. I’d be pissed too, it was Gucci," another added.
In Swift's "All Too Well," which she first released in 2012, she sings, "And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house / And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now."
"Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone / But you keep my old scarf from that very first week / 'Cause it reminds you of innocence / And it smells like me / You can't get rid of it / 'Cause you remember it all too well," she adds in another part of the song.
While the exes have not confirmed that "All Too Well" was about their past romance, fans have long believed the track is about Gyllenhaal, whom Swift dated from October to December 2010.
One clue that hinted at the actor being the subject of the song was that its lyrics implied that an age gap caused the split.
Gyllenhaal is nine years older than Swift, who was 20 years old when they dated.
