'Directed By Taylor Swift' Trends On Twitter Following Swift's New Music Video Teaser
Taylor Swift teased a music-less 10-second teaser for her new music video for her song “The Man.” The short video appeared on Twitter, where it instantly blew up.
The teaser shows a man standing at the window of a high-rise staring off somewhere. The camera pulls in close to him before it cuts to black, with the words “Directed by Taylor Swift” popping up on the screen.
The exact words in the video say: “The Man. Music Video. Directed by Taylor Swift. Tomorrow 7AM EST.” The time of posting was Wednesday, meaning Swift’s new music video for “The Man” will release Thursday morning, Feb. 27.
Twitter shortly after began discussing the video and the fact that Swift is directing her very own music video, leading to “Directed by Taylor Swift” being the number one trending topic on Twitter.
The 30-year-old songwriter originally teased the upcoming music video on Tuesday with only a single image that definitely sparked conversation initially. According to Billboard, fans took the still image as a cryptic message.
The Twitter message Swift left on the teaser says, “There are 19 hands in the hallway... but only 2 days until The Man Music Video.” This led fans to wonder what “19 hands” could mean. Many have come to the conclusion that there will be 19 celebrity cameos in the music video.
Another interesting theory brings back something Swift had previously said. “Taylor swift mentioned 18 new acts in her “Woman of the decade” speech at the Women in music event (Billboard) + Taylor ... that’s 19 WOMAN = 19 HANDS”
This suggests that Swift’s “The Man” music video could bring together 19 different female artists to either cameo or perform in some way.
Swift is known for, amongst her Grammy-winning titles, her music videos. Although this would be her first time as sole director for a project. Swift previously co-directed several music videos for "Me!,” "You Need to Calm Down,” and "Lover.”
