DIY Mondo Guerra-Inspired Polka Dot Manicure
Polka Dots are always in style. From Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs to Lanvin and Gucci, luxury fashion designers all added the playful print to their Fall 2011 collections.
Let Them Have Polish blogger Cristina decided to dip into dots with one of her latest creations for the 31 days nail art challenge. During the months of October and November, Cristina teamed up with bloggers Sammy from The Nailsaurus and Rie from Nails and Noms to create 31 new designs over the 31 days.
On Day-25, Cristina featured a polka dot motif inspired by Project Runway Season 8 finalist, Mondo Guerra. For his runway collection, Guerra displayed an array of polka dotted pieces, including a stunning backless gown (that Ms. Heidi Klum adored and eventually wore to a red carpet event).
Cristina loved the black and white dress and used it as her muse. Though Guerra's dress was black with white spots, Cristina used white with black spots to create a stronger contrast.
I knew immediately that was the dress that would inspire that manicure, she told Stylelist. Mondo should have won.
Here are the Do-It-Yourself steps for creating this manicure on your own.
Nail Polishes You Need
Maybelline Colorama in Cupid's Wing, Zoya Nail Polish in Raven, Hard Candy Matte-ly in Love
Do-It-Yourself Steps
1. Apply three coats of Maybelline Colorama Cupid's Wing polish.
2. Dot on the Zoya Raven black. Create different sized dots, some big and some small. Do this in a random pattern.
