Chinese tech company Da-Jiang Innovations, more popularly known as DJ, finally unveiled its highly anticipated drones, the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine, on Friday, with its most expensive bundle costing almost $5,000.
The more expensive model packing the most impressive specs is the DJI Mavic 3 Cine, which retails at $4,999. It comes with a built-in 1 TB SSD and can film Apple ProRes 422 HQ footage at 5.1K up to 50FPS.
This feature offers much more scope for processing in various software, including Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or DaVinci Resolve. The DJI Mavic 3, on the other hand, does not share the ProRes or a built-in 1 TB SSD of the Mavic 3 Cine.
However, it features the same dual-camera powered by a 4/3 CMOS sensor and calm film in 4K at 120 fps. It can also shoot 20MP photos. In addition, both models feature a hybrid zoom lens that can reach up to 28x digital zoom.
Both DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine models use the latest higher density batteries, which according to the drone maker, will achieve up to 46-minutes of flight time in just a single charge. It is a great improvement since the current best flight time offered by drones available in the market today is only around 30 minutes.
Both models also feature video transmission from the drone up to 15 km away. In addition, they both come with enhanced sensors on all sides to enable them to crash safely. Moreover, both have different object-tracking flight modes to help users get cinematic footage with much lesser effort.
The new drones from DJI feature omnidirectional obstacle sensing with sensors now more capable of sensing objects even at 200m or 650 feet away. The standard version of the DJI Mavic 3 retails at $2,199 and comes with the drone, remote controller, a set of extra propellers, carrying strap and a joystick.
The new DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 drones are an impressive package perfect for enthusiasts and professionals. While they are more pricey than their predecessors, they feature substantial upgrades to justify the added cost.
