DNC Announces Democratic Primary Contenders To Qualify For June 26-27 Debate
Twenty Democrats have qualified for the first of six televised debates scheduled on June 26 and 27 in Miami, Fla. Three candidates did not meet qualifications established by the Democratic National Committee in May to participate.
Given the historically large candidate field, the debates will be spread over two nights involving 10 candidates each. To qualify, a candidate must have registered 1% or more in at least three qualifying polls between January 1 and two weeks before the scheduled debate, which was June 12 for the first debate.
The other way to qualify was for a campaign to show it had received 65,000 unique donations, and at least 200 donations in 20 states.
Candidates qualifying for the first debate and the night of their appearance, in alphabetical order, are below:
Colorado Sen. Michael Bennett (June 27)
Former Vice President Joe Biden (June 27) *
