Do ‘Fixer Upper’ Stars Chip And Joanna Gaines Work Outside Of Texas?

Chip and Joanna Gaines have dazzled HGTV viewers for years with their combined renovation and design skills on “Fixer Upper,” but unfortunately for fans looking hire the impressive pair, there are some strict guidelines.

On “Fixer Upper,” the Gaines couple works exclusively nearby their hometown of Waco, Texas, and no, that isn’t just for TV purposes. On Magnolia Market, the couple’s website, they specifically state they do not renovate homes far from the Waco area and their reasoning is hard to disagree with.

“Although we’ve gained exposure through HGTV, we are still a local business, and are committed to helping restore Waco to become the amazing city it was meant to be,” the couple writes on their site.

“We’re still blown away by how many out-of-towners and even out-of-staters have requested for us to travel to work on their home. However, at this time, our roots are planted here in Waco!”

The couple also notes that if they took projects outside of their area, it would likely put a strain on their family, which is one of the reasons they’re quitting “Fixer Upper” after Season 5 wraps in 2018.

“We also believe in the importance of home and family, and traveling for a remodel project would put unnecessary strain on our families and children,” reads their November 2016 post. “We’re committed to our families and realize how important it is to spend time at home.”

So, who can hire Chip and Joanna? The pair has specified guidelines on their site which state they have chosen to work only within a 30-mile radius of Waco.

At the time their answers were posted, the couple said they were only doing on-air remodels and all requests would have to be submitted through High Noon Entertainment. Since the couple just wrapped their last remodel for the show in November, it’s unclear when or if they will start doing renovation again off-camera. After all, they do have a lot going on.

Still, fans can use Chip and Joanna’s Magnolia Reality company to find, sell or flip their own Fixer Upper. Magnolia agents are available in Waco, as well as several cities throughout Texas.
