Do Kwon, the brash crypto billionaire known for his rude comments against his critics, admitted that his crypto Twitter persona is "cringe" and was only created for "entertainment value."
During his interview with journalist Lura Shib on the Unchained podcast, Kwon revealed interesting details despite his knack for double-speak when fired with difficult and upfront questions.
At one point, the journalist asked the crypto executive about his alter ego on Twitter and what can he say about this. "A lot of people have talked about the arrogance of your tweets during the time that Terra was on the upswing and you later said in these tweets that you had developed an entertaining Alter Ego, do you feel any remorse for your cocky tone during that time," Shin asked.
According to the TFL CEO, the persona was created because there was a "pull from the community to be more open and frank about [my] his thoughts and opinions." He said he thinks "it was largely for entertainment value because it was fun you know joking and sharing posting like other individuals on Twitter while I was doing it."
"Personally when I go back in time and then when I'm presented with a tweet that I would have written a couple of years ago it is quite cringe and um and uh people have told me to take them down but I do think it's worthwhile just keeping them on there you know just for record-keeping and posterity purposes," he further said.
Kwon is known for insulting his critics on Twitter, calling them poor. In one of his tweets in July 2021, the TFL CEO said, "I don't debate the poor on Twitter, and sorry I don't have any change on me for her at the moment."
Even when TerraUSD (UST) and LUNA nosedived, Kwon attempted to assure investors via a series of tweets, promising a recovery plan and more cash inflow, before finally admitting defeat.
"I've spent the last few days on the phone calling Terra community members – builders, community members, employees, friends and family, that have been devastated by UST depegging. I am heartbroken about the pain my invention has brought on all of you," he tweeted in May.
"I still believe that decentralized economies deserve decentralized money – but it is clear that $UST in its current form will not be that money," he said seemingly in resignation.
However, since the spectacular collapse, his tweets have been scarce.
