  • Nurcihan Ogmen, 61, underwent a tummy tuck procedure on March 5
  • After two months, an X-ray revealed a doctor had left an item inside her stomach
  • The woman filed a complaint against the doctor and the hospital administration

A woman, who underwent a tummy tuck after giving birth to seven children, was in extreme pain for two months after the surgery. An X-ray finally revealed the reason for her pain -- a pair of scissors.

Nurcihan Ogmen, living in Soke district in Turkey, was shocked when she learnt a surgeon, who performed the procedure, accidentally left a pair of scissors inside her.

Excess skin on Ogmen's abdomen was removed by her doctor during the operation. The surgery went on for almost five hours, following which the patient was in the hospital for a day before being discharged. Soon after the surgery, Ogmen started suffering from swelling and severe pain in her stomach. She then returned to the doctor, who told her the pain and swelling in the abdominal area was normal and would soon be gone, media outlet DetikHealth reported [Google Translation showed].

"After the operation, my pain got worse. It became so severe that I went to check-ups almost every week. The doctor did not believe me and sent me away saying that I just need to be patient," Ogmen said, according to Yahoo News Australia. "Each time he dismissed me, he was not interested in listening to me at all. I could not explain the incredible pain I was into him. I still feel the pain. I'm still not fully recovered."

The doctor allegedly told the 61-year-old she was imagining the pain, local news website AHaber's reported [Google Translation showed].

However, Ogmen continued to have stomach pain for two months. Her husband took her to Soke State Hospital on May 3 where doctors performed an X-ray, and found the pair of scissors.

After the results were out, the doctor who had conducted the tummy tuck admitted to accidentally leaving the scissors in her abdomen. A two-hour surgery was conducted to remove the item.

Ogmen later filed a complaint with the Kusadasi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office about the doctor, the hospital administration and the medical personnel who participated in the operation. It remains unclear if any charges have been filed in the case.
