“Doctor Who” fans are getting a different kind of holiday special this year. For the first time since 2005, the British hit did not bring a Christmas special. Instead, it will be a New Year’s Day special.

Rather than air on its regular Sunday night slot, the “Doctor Who” special will air on Tuesday, which is New Year’s Day. U.S. fans should tune in to BBC America at 8 p.m. EST on Jan. 1 to watch the new installment, titled “Resolution.”

For those who want to watch online, BBC America also has a live stream option. Viewers should tune in on BBCAmerica.com at 8 p.m. EST on Tuesday. However, they will need to sign in with information from their cable provider.

The “Doctor Who” special will show the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) fighting forces of evil. “As the New Year begins, a terrifying evil is stirring from across the centuries of Earth’s history. Will the Doctor, Ryan (Tosin Cole), Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) be able to overcome this threat to Planet Earth?” the synopsis teases.

Though Season 11 has focused entirely on new villains, it seems familiar foes will return in the holiday episode. A new teaser released last week, the Doctor tells her companions that they’ve come across “the DNA of the most dangerous creature in the universe.”

“Doctor Who” fans know that there’s one alien that the Doctor fears—the Daleks. Though the trailer never shows the classic “Who” villains, it ends with the familiar cry, “Exterminate!”

Expect the special to pull out all of the stops. “We’ve got heavy action sequences,” Tosin Cole says in a new promo video. “It’s very epic, probably the biggest, action-packed [episode], I think, maybe for the whole series.”

The writers likely want to make sure the special hits a high note since it’s going on a long hiatus. It was previously confirmed that “Doctor Who” Season 12 won’t premiere until 2020.

Fans can also expect a few new faces in the New Year’s Day special. Charlotte Ritchie, Nikesh Patel and Daniel Adegboyega will guest star.
