‘Doctor Who’ Season 10 Spoilers: Mondasian Cybermen Highlighted in Episode 11 Photos
“Doctor Who” Season 10 is bringing back a classic villain: the Cybermen. However, these aren’t the updated Cybermen we saw in the early seasons of the show’s revival. At star Peter Capaldi’s request, these are the Mondasian Cybermen, and episode 11 photos reveal that the vintage costumes can still be daunting.
In Season 10, episode 11, the Doctor (Capaldi) and his companions will once again be in danger. “Trapped on a giant spaceship, caught in the event horizon of a black hole, he witnesses the death of someone he is pledged to protect,” the “Doctor Who” synopsis reveals. “Is there any way he can redeem his mistake? Are events already out of control? For once, time is the Time Lord’s enemy.”
It seems the Mondasian Cybermen will also be on that ship. Photos show the Cybermen interacting with the Doctor, who seems a bit perplexed to see the Mondasians.
Photos show that newer models will also be included. Are the old Cybermen and the new Cybermen facing off? Or will there be an evolution at some point? Fans will have to tune in to the BCC America drama to find out.

As previously reported, Capaldi specifically loved the old school version of the Cybermen, which haven’t been on the series in over 50 years. Showrunner Steven Moffat knew that Capaldi had long been a fan of the villains, so he made them the villains in episode 11 and episode 12 of “Doctor Who” Season 10.
"Peter didn’t give me a wish list — he wouldn't ever do that,” Moffat told Digital Spy earlier this year. “But I did give him some Mondasian Cybermen, because he’s very keen on those!”
At a Wizard World convention in May, Capaldi confirmed that fans will hear the Mondasian Cybermen’s voices. However, he couldn’t reveal much about what they sound like. The voices were being added in post-production, so watching the episode might be the first time Capaldi experiences their voices as well.
Of course, the Cybermen aren’t the biggest return coming in episode 11. “Doctor Who” is bringing back the Master (John Simm). The villain has been on the show in recent years as Missy (Michelle Gomez), but it seems she’ll reunite with her former incarnation in the penultimate episode of the season. Will Missy and the Master be working with the Cybermen?

The final episodes of “Doctor Who” Season 10 will prove to be intense, to say the least. Aside from the tension of returning villains and the excitement of the finale, these are also some of Capaldi’s final episodes. After this season, Capaldi will appear in the Christmas episode, which will be his final outing as the iconic character.
“‘Doctor Who’ is a great job, but it is a bit of a television factory. You do twelve episodes a year, and I just worried that I wouldn’t be able to continue to do my best work,” the actor explained on the “Graham Norton Show” in April. “I like to be able to learn the lines and do some preparation and come in and give it some vigor and not hate it. I just figure, while you’re enjoying it, leave.”
“Doctor Who” Season 10, episode 11 airs Saturday at 9 p.m. EDT on BBC America.
