DODGERS TRADE: Beckett, Gonzalez, Crawford on Their Way to L.A.
A deal has been finalized sending Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, pitcher Josh Beckett and injured outfield Carl Crawford to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In return, the Dodgers have agreed to send first baseman James Loney, second baseman Ivan De Jesus Jr., outfielder Jerry Sands and pitchers Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster, according to reports.
The Red Sox also send second baseman Nick Punto to L.A.
Gonzalez is the key to this deal, as Los Angeles' offense has struggled for most of the season, averaging 3.98 runs per game. He leads the Red Sox with a .300 average and 86 RBIs, which are well below the numbers he put up last season at Fenway, but of late he has batted .338 with 9 homers in the second half.
Originally from San Diego, Gonzalez made his name with the Padres in the NL West. In five seasons, he averaged 32 homeruns, 100 RBIs, and his lowest on-base-percentage was .347 in 2007.
