The Los Angeles Dodgers probably won’t re-sign Manny Machado, but that doesn’t mean the team will stand pat this offseason. After losing in the World Series for a second straight year, L.A. could make some major additions.

According to the latest trade rumors, the Dodgers have interest in acquiring some of the best available players that aren’t free agents. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal has reported that Los Angeles has engaged in discussions with the Cleveland Indians, who are open to dealing either Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco or Trevor Bauer. The Dodgers are also a player for Miami Marlins’ catcher J.T. Realmuto, per Rosenthal.

It was reported a few weeks ago that the Indians would trade one of their top starting pitchers for the right price. Rosenthal has noted that Los Angeles has a surplus of outfielders, and Cleveland needs outfield help. Cleveland has also been taking calls on catcher Yan Gomes, and the Dodgers could use a catcher since Yasmani Grandal rejected the team’s one-year qualifying offer.

Acquiring Realmuto could be the Dodgers’ solution at catcher. After trading their entire starting outfield last year, Miami could move Realmuto this offseason as part of their rebuild.

It might take a lot to acquire Realmuto, who made his first All-Star team in 2018. The 27-year-old hit .277/.340/.484 with 21 home runs in 125 games for the Marlins last season.

When it comes to free agency, DJ LeMahieu could be an option for Los Angeles. According to MLB.com’s Jon Morosi, the second baseman’s agent has had preliminary talks with the Dodgers, Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins.

LeMahieu, 30, won the 2016 NL batting title by hitting .348 with the Colorado Rockies. After hitting .310 in 155 games in 2017, the veteran hit .276/.321/.428 with a career-high 15 homers and 62 RBI in 128 games last year.

The Dodgers made the first big move of the offseason by giving Clayton Kershaw a three-year contract extension worth $93 million. Los Angeles can't be ruled out as a possible destination for Bryce Harper, though they are not considered to be among the favorites to sign the outfielder.
