Dog Attack In Little Chute Leaves Child With Serious Injuries On Arms, Face
Local authorities are investigating an animal attack in Little Chute that left a nine-year-old with serious injuries over the weekend.
Details about the attack are limited, but the Fox Valley Metro Police Department told NBC 26 that the incident happened around 4:00 p.m., Sunday.
They further noted that a dog who was allegedly running around the neighborhood attacked the child who was, at that time, playing football in a field near the intersection of E. North Avenue and Buchanan Street.
Action News 2 described the dog to be brown with a black snout. The animal also had a short tail with folded ears and had no collar.
The attack left the child with severe wounds on his face and arms, it added.
Further investigation suggested that the dog ran southbound on Taylor Street in Little Chute after it mauled the helpless child.
Residents are advised to contact Officer Jim Brandt of the Fox Valley Metro Police Department should they have any leads on the whereabouts of the animal or its owner.
The incident was likewise shared by the Fox Valley Metro Police Department on their Facebook page.
Animal attacks are apparently scarce in Little Chute, although authorities have had several run-ins with dog-to-dog incidents.
On September, 2014, a loose dog attacked and killed a six-month-old puppy near Little Chute High School.
According to Post Crescent, a Missouri woman was walking her three dogs when their leashes became tangled. It was there that one of the animals, a golden retriever, got loose and went directly for the Alaskan Klee Kai puppy who was also being walked by its owner.
The larger dog “bit and shook” the puppy and was later reported to have died due to severe injuries.
Fox Valley Metro Police officer Ed Slinde told reporters that the golden retriever’s owner was slapped with a $214 citation for “dog-at-large.” Had they been a resident of Little Chute, Slinde added that the animal would have been designated as a “prohibited dangerous animal for killing another domesticated animal.”
The retriever was placed under a 10-day home quarantine, added the report.
Two dogs also fought each other at the Outagamie County Dog Park in April. One of the owners was also hurt while separating the two animals, one of which was identified as a black pit bull.
