A dog saved a six-year-old girl from an attack by a rabid fox in Bath, England, earlier this week. The girl, identified as Julia Davis, was playing at her friend’s home when she was attacked by a fox.

Recalling the incident, her mother, Kristie, said, "She (Davis’ friend’s mother) was freaking out. And all I got out of her in the first phone call was 'You need to hurry up. Julia was bit by a fox.' And I said 'What?'"

The woman told Kristie that Julia and her friend were playing outside the home when the animal appeared from the woods and ran straight at them. The girls ran into the home screaming. The fox too followed them and attacked Davis before biting her in the back of her leg.

"When the fox jumped at her, one tooth got her leg. And the rest of them got her dress. So when she pulled her dress, the fox let go,” Kristie said.

Suddenly, the dog, named Socks, grabbed the fox, dragged it outside the home before killing it.

"He didn't really look sick to me. He was emaciated. He was very, very thin. But other than that, he looked healthy," Kristie said.

The animal tested positive for rabies. While Julia received rabies shots, the dog too got booster shots Thursday. The canine was quarantined at home.

“I think he's a really good boy. And my mom and my dad...they're going to go to a place where they make really good dog treats. And they're going to get some for him,” Davis said.
