A Chinese dog owner made his pet sit on the tailgate of his car after tying it to the back of the vehicle because he didn’t want the canine to shed its fur inside the car.

The unidentified owner was arrested Wednesday after the video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, the dog, a black and white border, can be seen sitting on the tailgate of the car as the vehicle drifts along. When the car halts at a signal, the terrified dog tried making an eye contact with other drivers, however, nobody attempts to rescue it. The traffic again comes to a standstill as an ambulance passes by. However, the dog doesn’t move.

The witness, who filmed the incident, said the dog was not only made to sit on the tailgate but also tied to the back of the vehicle. Had the canine fallen off the car, it would have been dragged along. The witness then reported the incident to police following which the dog owner was tracked down and detained for questioning.

During interrogation, the dog owner said the canine had “shedding problems” and that he didn’t want the animal to shed fur onto the car seats. The man was fined for endangering the life of the dog as well as endangering traffic safety.

The incident comes a month after a Malaysian man was caught on camera dragging a dog behind his bike on its leash . In the video, the dog can be seen trying to keep up with the pace of the bike. However, it struggles to do so. The video went viral on social with several people criticizing the person who took the video and suggesting that he should have instead helped the canine.
