A California man sexually assaulted his pet dog and posted a video of the act on social media.

In a statement issued Friday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said the investigation began after the accused, identified as 37-year-old Sexy Vegan, posted a video “allegedly depicting inappropriate behavior with a pit bull” on his social media account. Officers executed a search warrant for his home following which he was arrested Thursday.

Vegan was charged with “one misdemeanor count each of sexual assault on an animal and posting obscene matter” and could face up to one year imprisonment if found guilty. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control removed his two pet dogs from his home.

Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said the accused was born Hansel Marion DeBartolo III but legally changed his name.

Speaking about the arrest, Miller said, “Detectives found a video on social media of the suspect performing an act of bestiality. The investigation is still active and ongoing.”

According to reports, when asked about his occupation during interrogation, Vegan said he was a 2020 presidential candidate. However, no paperwork was found.

Vegan was held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on $35,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.

In a similar incident in June, a Pennsylvania man was arrested for sexually assaulting his pet dog and filming the act. The incident came to light after an unidentified woman informed police that Justin James Kraeber had told her that he had sex with dogs. During investigation, officers found out that the accused had filmed the act and shared the videos. Kraeber committed the crime while out on bail in a sexual assault case. He was charged with sexual intercourse with an animal.
