Dog Viciously Bites 3-Year-Old Girl's Face At Texas Restaurant, Owner Flees With Canine
A 3-year-old girl, who was attacked by a dog inside a Texas restaurant, is recovering.
The victim, identified as Ronin, was with her parents and her family friend Saturday when the incident took place. As soon as the group entered the restaurant, the girl started leading them to the line to order. Just then, Ronin encountered a dog wearing a service vest.
Within seconds, the victim was mauled by the canine, which was described as a pit bull by the girl’s family.
Recalling the incident, Kimberly Parker, the family’s friend, told ABC owned-and-operated television station KTRK-TV, "It had a hold of her face and shook her. The lady (dog’s owner) pulled on the leash, the dog released her and she just dropped like a rag doll."
Ronin’s mother immediately rushed her to the bathroom to assess her injuries and noticed the girl was bleeding profusely.
"In my mind, as she's screaming, 'I just needed to stop the bleeding. I just needed to stop the bleeding,'" Cleveratta Gordon-Waldroup, the mother, told the channel.
In the meantime, the girl’s father, James Waldroup, chased the dog’s owner and the canine down the street to her vehicle and asked the woman to come back to the restaurant as there was an accident.
"I started yelling at her, 'You can’t leave, this is an accident. You can’t leave.' She had the gall to turn around and tell me it was my daughter’s fault," her father told NBC-affiliated television station KPRC-TV.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, where she received stitches.
The family told KPRC-TV the girl suffered severe injuries to her right cheek and jaw, and needed close to 20 stitches following the attack.
"It has been very traumatic for us to see my baby attacked so viciously," the mother said.
Meanwhile, the Harris County Sheriff's Office has traced the owner and scheduled a meeting with her. The girl’s family wants the dog’s owner to be held accountable for the incident.
"For them to not show any compassion or any remorse to even stop and ask if my baby was OK, it goes beyond words," the girl’s mother said.
"She cares more about this dog. This dog now has to be checked out and everything, because my child runs the chance of getting rabies so that is still on the table until we get confirmation of its medical history," the girl’s father said.
The girl was recovering and a GoFundMe page has been set up to cover her future medical expenses.
