A man, who was found lying on roadside in Gilbertsville, Kentucky, on Saturday night, died from a dog attack, an autopsy report revealed Sunday.

The incident came to light after a passerby found the body on roadside and informed police. The body was identified as that of 46-year-old Brian Butler of Benton. It was taken for autopsy in order to figure out the cause of death. On Sunday, the Western Kentucky regional medical examiner's office said Butler died from sharp force trauma that was caused by a dog attack.

The Kentucky State Police said the Marshall County Animal Control took away two dogs that were found in the area where Butler’s body was recovered. Police also warned the residents of the area to be aware of any loose dogs as there were possibilities of more dogs being involved in the incident.

Police also asked anyone with contacts with the victim in the last few days to approach them. The investigation was ongoing.

In a similar incident in Kentucky in May, a two-year-old boy died after a pit bull mauled him inside his home. The victim grandmother rushed to her neighbor’s home screaming for help when she saw the dog attacking the boy. Neighbors reached the scene and tried to scare the dog away. One of the neighbors performed CPR till the paramedics reached the scene and rushed the child to a nearby hospital. However, the boy succumbed to injuries in less than two hours. An autopsy revealed the boy died from multiple blunt force injuries. The pit bull, which the neighbors described as “aggressive”, was taken away by the animal control.
