Dolly Parton gave Miley Cyrus a shoutout on her special day.
Cyrus turned 30 years old Wednesday. Her godmother, Parton, took to Instagram to mark the occasion by paying her a sweet tribute along with two pictures of them.
In the snap, the two musicians posed alongside each other with black, gold and silver balloons. Cyrus hugged Parton from behind in the first picture. In the second photo, they leaned on each other's back as they posed for the camera.
"Happy birthday, @MileyCyrus! I can't wait to celebrate with you and ring in the new year!! [red heart emoji]," Parton wrote in the caption.
Several netizens commented on the "I Will Always Love You" singer's post. Many of them praised their photos and wished Cyrus a happy birthday.
"I love seeing Miley and her (magical, fairy) godmother!" one commented. Another added, "Happy Birthday, Miley! Can't wait to see yours and Dolly's New Year Eve's."
"Two gorgeous voices from two pretty ladies!" a third fan added.
"Aww, you two are so cute!" another netizen commented.
In an interview earlier this year, the "Jolene" songstress talked about Cyrus while discussing how "proud" she was to be an inspiration to the new generation. But according to her, she doesn't give younger singers advice, including the "Hannah Montana" star.
"I don't give advice, but I got a lot of information. Same with Miley," Parton told Us Weekly in January while promoting her Dolly Parton x Duncan Hines line launching in March. "Everybody says, 'Do you give Miley advice?' I said, 'Nobody gives Miley advice.' She's [as] headstrong as I am, but we both respect each other. And we share things."
Although she doesn't give the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker advice, as Cyrus' godmother, she said their talk on issues seems fitting because she still wants to "stay involved" in her godchild's life.
"If I feel like I've got something to say to her, like, a mother or an aunt or a godmother, I will say something. Or [I will] ask her a question about this or that or ask her a question even concerning my own career," Parton explained. "[Because] I wanna stay involved and important in the business for as long as I live. And I've been lucky enough that that's happened."
