Dolly Parton Reveals Beauty Secrets; Says She Does Not Splurge On Skincare Products
She may be a legendary music icon but Dolly Parton practices a simple beauty regimen and shuns complex beauty rituals that are popular these days.
The 76-year-old songstress says she wakes up before dawn and makes the most out of her day.
"I don't need a whole lot of sleep. I go to bed pretty early, but even if I've been up late — it's just kind of like a little clock inside of me that says, 'It's 3 o'clock!,'" Parton revealed in a recent interview with Insider.
The "Jolene" singer said she rises at 3 a.m. and accomplishes much of her work at that time even if she stays cozied up in bed.
"I do some of my best work there, but I get enough sleep. I don't require as much sleep as a lot of other people do, that's kind of a Parton family trait," she continued. "I'm like my daddy. He was always up early, even if he had to go to bed late."
The multi-millionaire, who co-owns Tennessee's popular theme park Dollywood, said she does not splurge on expensive skincare products because affordable alternatives also deliver the same results as their pricier counterparts.
"I don't do any big rituals with my skin or anything, and I don't think you have to pay a ton of money to have good products. Most of the products that cost less are just as good, and sometimes better than the ones that cost a fortune," she said.
"I don't buy for fame. I just buy the ones that work for me," the "Joyful Noise" star pointed out.
Parton credits minimal sun exposure for her good skin. "I never got out in the sun. I don't have a lot of the same problems that women my age do 'cause I never baked myself in the sun. I would've if I'd been able to tan, but I couldn't, so now I'm glad!"
In contrast to her simple skincare routine, Parton has a surprising practice of sleeping in full makeup for an interesting reason. "I do all my beauty work and cleaning my face in the morning because I usually try to keep my makeup on at night. Because I never know if there’s going to be an earthquake or a tornado or a storm and I'm going to have to go out in the middle of the night," she told Wall Street Journal in May 2021.
