Dolly Parton Reveals She Has 'Little Tattoos' To Hide Scars From Medical Procedures

Dolly Parton is not heavily inked, contrary to what some may have thought due to her penchant for wearing long-sleeved tops and dresses. Rather, the 75-year-old singer has "a few little tattoos" to hide scars from previous medical procedures.

"I have a few little tattoos here and there but most of mine kinda came out of me kinda having a little body art," the "I Will Always Love You" singer told W Magazine in an interview that was released Wednesday.

"Most of my tattoos came because I'm very fair and I have a tendency to scar when I get any kind of cut," she explained. "I've had surgeries for different things, and if the scars didn't heal properly, I just gotta put tattoos to take the sting out."

It was not the first time Parton opened up about her tattoos. She previously recalled getting inked to hide the scars she had incurred when doctors had to insert a feeding tube on her.

"I was very sick for a while and I had to wear a feeding tube. It left a little indention in my side and I didn't like it because I'm so fair that scars turn purple on me," she told People last year.

The legendary singer said she decided to make something "beautiful" out of the negative experience, so she ended up getting a beehive ink to cover the scar from the medical procedure.

"I like to make positives out of negatives. I had a little beehive tattooed over it — a little yellow-and-brown beehive with a tiny little bee on top of the hive. The mouth of it is that little sinkhole," she said further.

She also emphasized that her tattoos, such as "ribbons," "bows" and "butterflies," are small decorations on her body.

"I do have some tattoos, that's true... But they're tasteful. I'm not a tattoo girl," she added.

Previously, she also told E! Online that her tattoos are "scattered here and there, where I need them, but they're not the kind of thing to show on television usually. I can't get naked, can I?"

Rumors about Parton being heavily tattooed began circulating in 2011 after comedian Roseanne Barr randomly brought up the "Jolene" singer's tattoos in an interview.

"Do you know who's totally tattooed? I shouldn't even tell this. Dolly Parton is totally tattooed," she said as per E! Online. "She showed me. She's got all these awesome tattoos all over her body. No black or blue lines. All pastel, gorgeous bows all over everything."
