A delivery driver at Domino’s reportedly got fired after a video of him getting into an argument with a customer, who did not give a tip, surfaced. In the video, the delivery driver can be heard saying expletives and complaining that, if he does not get tipped, he does not get paid.
Representatives for the multinational pizza restaurant chain denied the claims made by their driver.
Caught On Camera
The incident happened at a house located in Albuquerque, N.M., according to TMZ. The news outlet reported that the two teenagers, who were home by themselves as their father was out of town, decided to buy themselves food from Domino’s. Their dad, whose name was not disclosed, said his daughter used his credit card to place an order over the phone with the pizza chain.
When the delivery man arrived, the lass forgot to fill out the field on the receipt for the tip before giving it to her brother. When her brother gave it to the driver, the delivery man sarcastically told the teenager “thanks for the tip,” to which the young man appeared to answer with a shrug.
It was at this point when the Domino’s driver unleashed a series of tirades, including swearing at the confused teenage boy. The exchange was caught by the family’s doorbell camera.
Complaint Filed
According to the TMZ, the father, after learning about the incident and watching the recorded outburst, complained to the Domino’s store in question. The store’s general manager and the owner of the franchise did more than just apologize. TMZ reported that they went to the family’s house and gave each kid gift cards worth $200. They also handed them an additional $100 gift card for the family.
After the franchisee of the popular pizza chain reviewed the footage, he immediately fired the delivery driver, according to reports. A spokesperson for Domino’s also told Fox News that their drivers get paid for their service to the company and not just in tips. They are also reimbursed for expenses they incur in case they use their personal vehicles to deliver food.
