Donald Trump Jr. Taunted Over Facebook Rant Against Joe Biden’s Capability As President
Donald Trump Jr. has received backlash on social media after posting a video rant Friday on Facebook that attacked President Joe Biden. Many cited how Trump's speech sounded slurred and convoluted.
The nearly 5-minute video was titled “Pathetic: Biden Can’t Read a Teleprompter!”
Trump, 44, has drawn increased attention in recent days for not complying with subpoenas from the New York State attorney general office's civil investigation into how the family real estate business valued its holdings. He has often used his status as the former president's son to attack political rivals.
He began the video by criticizing Biden’s ability to read from a teleprompter. “Guys, Joe Biden is at it again, reading the instructions from the teleprompter and not being able to decide what’s the quote and what’s the message,” he said.
“He did it again earlier this week with the United 'Stake' of America -- at least that’s what it sounded like to me.”
Trump also questioned Biden’s ability to deal with foreign threats. “You know what? Can’t put Joe Biden in the same room with someone, he might let one rip,” Trump said.
“Guys… Joe Biden… is what stands between us and… a nuclear capable China. Joe Biden is the guy they’re gonna call at three in the morning… if there’s a serious crisis… with Russia.”
Trump has faced criticism about his public comments in the past. After speaking at the 2020 Republican National Convention, he denied rumors that he was under the influence of drugs.
On Monday, “Don Jr” was trending on Twitter, with users slamming him for his rants against Biden.
“It must be hard to hate your dad while desperately wanting him to love you Right, Don Jr?” one user posted.
Another suggested Trump's rant was caused by recent comments from the former president's personal lawyer Michael Cohen.
“Don Jr. is torn up because he heard Michael Cohen said that his father thinks he’d make a better sacrificial lamb than Ivanka. He’s thinking why me? What about Eric? Those poor Trump children,” the post read.
Cohen had actually spoken to MSNBC reporter Alex Witt after Trump made the comments. Cohen had cited the former president’s request to protect his daughter Ivanka Trump over Donald Trump Jr. from federal fraud charges from 2012.
“You may recall that there was the district attorney’s case here for Trump Soho where it was either Don or Ivanka was in very big trouble as a result of lying about the number of units that had been sold,” Cohen told Witt.
“And Donald said it to me – I mean I wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t said directly to me – he goes ‘if one or the other has to go to prison, make sure that it’s Don because Don would be able to handle it.’”
As of Monday afternoon, Trump Jr.’s video has received nearly 400,000 views.
