  • Donald Trump urged netizens to avoid panic buying
  • The POTUS also accused the press of publishing fake news
  • Donald Trump released an incorrect statement about Google on Friday

Donald Trump urged Americans to avoid hoarding food during a press conference at the White House.

After the POTUS declared the coronavirus a national emergency, netizens flocked to groceries and supermarkets to stock up on foods and supplies. As such, retailers reached out to Trump so that they can inform the public that they shouldn’t buy too much because there are enough products for everyone.

“You don’t have to buy too much. Take it easy. Relax. They have asked me to say, ‘Could you buy a little bit less please.’ I thought I would never hear that from a retailer,” he said.

During Sunday’s coronavirus press conference, the POTUS also lashed out at the press and accused them of publishing fake news. On Friday, Melania Trump’s husband claimed that Google was building a website that would help people determine if they needed to be tested.

However, Google still didn’t have any plans at that time. After reaching out to the White House, the company then announced that they will be building the site after all. Since Google already confirmed its plans, the POTUS blamed the press for initially publishing fake news.

“I don’t know where the press got their fake news,” Trump said. Unfortunately, the POTUS was criticized for his shocking statement.

“'I don't know where the press got their fake news,’ says Trump, who falsely claimed on Friday Google had 1700 engineers working on a nationwide website that would be ready quickly. Then he suggested he wants an apology. Then on to listing heads of corporations,” Twitter user @maggieNYT said.

“BREAKING: Trump just called press “fake news” during a coronavirus press conference, for calling out Trump for lying about Google making a coronavirus website. Trump needs to implement media distancing for himself. He is a liar who shouldn’t talk about the coronavirus ever again,” Twitter user @funder wrote.

“Trump thanks Google's communications team for having "substantiated" what he said at the press conference. He bashes the "fake news" and says the press should apologize...even though the press correctly reported what Google said and Google only later changed its statement,” Twitter user @ddale8 said.
