Donald Trump has been warned about the dangers of his “war on truth.”

Brian Stelter of CNN analyzed the U.S. president’s war on truth after he posted an update about coronavirus on Twitter. The POTUS wrote that coronavirus is “very much under control” in the country and the stock market is looking good for him.

However, Trump’s lack of credibility made others question his decision, with Stelter saying that it could put the country in danger in the event of an emergency.

“Now health agencies like the CDC are in the spotlight. High-minded warnings about breakdowns in trust and the death of truth have more impact when deaths from the coronavirus are being reported every day,” Stelter wrote.

Dr. Leana S. Wen, a visiting professor at George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health, wrote in an op-ed for Washington Post that when there’s a dangerous disease one should trust his or her doctor. However, Stelter felt that “trust is in short supply” in Trump’s administration.

In fact, multiple polls have shown that only one in three Americans trust Trump’s honesty and trustworthiness. Trump allegedly lied many times and this caused many to distrust him and this negatively affected the perception toward his administration.

“This president has lied about everything from trade deficits to Russian interference in US elections. He has disparaged experts at almost every opportunity,” said Daniel W. Drezner, professor of international politics at Tuft University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and author of the forthcoming book “The Toddler in Chief.”

“At a time when people are looking to the federal government for reassurance, he will be hard-pressed to provide any.”

Although some questioned Trump’s announcement, many still trust him. One commented on the POTUS’ post and wrote that he trusts his judgment. A different netizen agreed and called Trump an “amazing president.”
