Ten-year veteran NFL receiver Donte' Stallworth sustained “severe burns” in a hot-air balloon accident Saturday in South Miami-Dade, according to reports.

The 32-year-old was riding in the balloon with his girlfriend, and both were taken to the Trauma Center at Kendall Regional Hospital, as reported by the Miami Herald. The condition of Stallworth’s girlfriend is currently unknown, but the balloon operator was not hurt, according to The Herald.

ESPN reporter Mike Reiss stated via Twitter: “I’m told Donte’ Stallworth is in stable condition after sustaining burns when hot-air balloon he was in w/ girlfriend hit power lines.”

Stallworth’s injuries will not affect his career, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The former No. 13 overall pick of the New Orleans Saints in the 2002 NFL Draft has bounced around the league since he was charged with DUI manslaughter in 2009. Stallworth pled guilty to the charges and spent 24 days in jail. He was later suspended for the entire 2009 NFL season.

Since re-entering the league, Stallworth has played for the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Redskins, and New England Patriots. Last year, Stallworth appeared in one game with New England, making one catch for a 63-yard touchdown.

Stallworth is currently an unrestricted free agent.
