Doogee Announces S98 Pro Release Date, Price; Rugged Phone With Alien-Inspired Design Up For Pre-Order

Doogee S98 Pro, the rugged smartphone that offers extreme durability, a big battery pack and a plethora of features that can withstand excessive demand, especially during outdoor use, is arriving next month, and it's now available for pre-order.

The game-changing smartphone, which was launched in April, is finally hitting the shelves on June 6. It's a game-changing device with an alien-inspired design that received the European Good Design Award and is a bang for the buck.

Aside from its powerful night vision, the S98 Pro features a professional-grade thermal camera integrated into the primary shooter that utilizes an InfiRay sensor to deliver more than twice the thermal resolution other thermal sensors offer. With its 25 Hz frame rate, the S98 Pro produces detailed images to accurately detect and diagnose elevated temperatures, dampness and blockages.

Moreover, it boasts the Dual Spectrum Algorithm that allows the device to combine images from the primary and thermal cameras. Speaking of cameras, the S98 Pro houses a 48 MP SONY IMX582 primary shooter, a 20 MP IMX350 night vision camera and a 16 MP Samsung S5K3P9SP positioned in a cutout at the topmost part of the display.

Its impressive features are run by Mediatek Helio G96, an octa-core chipset with a clock speed that reaches up to 2.05 GHz. In other words, the Doogee S98 Pro is also a capable gaming smartphone. The processor works with an 8 GB + 256 GB memory for faster and smooth operation. This can be further expanded to 512 GB with a micro SD card.

The S98 Pro packs a 6000 mAH battery, a 33W fast Type-C charger and a 15W wireless charger. It can last up to 432 hours on standby, 28 hours on voice calls and 10 hours when gaming or playing videos.

For its display, it sports a 6.3-inch FHD+LCD IPS waterdrop type of screen with an added layer protection, thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass. It also features 500 nit peak brightness and 15,000:1 contrast and runs on Android 12 out of the box with up to three years of security update guarantee.

It connects via WiFi 802.11ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC with Google Pay support, USB-C with OTG support and GPS. The Doogee S98 Pro is IP68, IP69K ratings and MIL-STD-810H compliant. IP 68 certification means the device can withstand dirt, dust and sand and is resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5 meters underwater for up to 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, the IP69K rating means it has protection against ingress of dust and high temperature and high-pressure water, while its MIL-STD-810H compliance means it can withstand challenging environmental conditions.

The Doogee S98 Pro will retail at $439, but it will be available for only $329 between June 6 and 10. The alien-inspired rugged smartphone is up for pre-order and will be on sale on DoogeeMall and AliExpress. It will also be sold on Linio shopping platforms.
