  • Bethesda Softworks is re-releasing "Doom" and "Doom II"
  • The new features include 60 fps, Quick Save and "curated Add-ons"
  • It will also have Quick Weapon Select, new Level Select option, Aspect Ratio and Brightness adjustment and split-screen HUD

Bethesda's iconic retro FPS shooter “Doom” will be getting a much needed update. The developer has announced that the original 1993 game, “Doom” and “Doom II” will host new features, including 60 frames per second (fps) support, Quick Save functionality and “curated Add-ons”.

With games like “Resident Evil” having their remastered editions on the forefront, it's about time that games like “Doom” are going with the trend. Bethesda said in their website that players can download and play additional game contents for both titles.

Engadget on the other hand pointed that there will be a mix of “official and unofficial add-ons,” such as “The Plutonia Experiment” and “TNT: Evilution,” “No Rest for the Living” and “Sigil” by John Romero.

The biggest break, however, is the upscale from the original 35 fps to 60 fps. This native support will be applicable on all platforms, while the Quick Save option will be a player's “ultimate tool” for surviving Doom's Nightmare.

In addition to the aforementioned features, the new version will also indulge gamers with a novel Quick Weapon Select feature, a revamped Level Select option, Aspect Ratio and Brightness adjustment and split-screen HUD.

“Doom,” “Doom II” and “Doom 3” were re-released in July 2019, said Polygon. The titles are available on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, alongside Android and iOS devices.

“Doom Eternal” is slated to be released on March 20, the outlet added.
