One fringe group has received national notoriety with their predictions that the end of the world will be this coming Saturday, May 21.

The Oakland-based Family Radio Worldwide mentioned they have crunched the numbers and have calculated the math, with the groups president Harold Camping declaring the event absolutely going to happen. He claims that the Bible guarantees his prediction and he even pinned down the hour (6 p.m. local time).

Supporters have gathered around the country, in some cases selling their possessions, to assist spread the word.

Camping, 89 years old, is the president of the multimillion-dollar national Christian radio station, Family Radio, which he started with two other men in 1958.
