'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 4 Synopsis, Photos And Promo Video Released
“Downton Abbey” Season 5, episode 3 was very sexy and scandalous, but it looks like that may be coming to an end next week. Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) might make a final decision about Tony Gillingham (Tom Cullen) in episode 4, according to the episode synopsis.
“Lord Merton (Douglas Reith) delivers a bombshell to Isobel (Penelope Wilton), and Mary does likewise to Tony,” the synopsis teases. We got a sneak peek at the episode and we can tell you that both surprises have to do with their romantic relationships. One relationship will take the next step forward while the other takes a step back.
Unfortunately, Anna (Joanne Froggatt) and Bates (Brendan Coyle) won’t be in any romantic story lines. “Police suspicions deepen in an unexplained death,” the synopsis states. “Downton Abbey” won’t be letting go of Mr. Green’s murder plotline anytime soon. As the investigation continues, the police might find more evidence that brings them to Downton. However, they might not be looking at Mr. Bates as a suspect anymore.
Sarah Bunting (Daisy Lewis) will also be around in episode 4. Unfortunately, it won’t just be friendly lessons with Daisy (Sophie McShera) or flirting with Tom Branson (Allen Leech). She’ll “lock horns” with Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville). After offending him at dinner in the premiere and offending the Russians in episode 3, it seems Miss Bunting is one her way to irritating Robert in nearly every episode.
