'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis, Photos And Promo Video Released
“Downton Abbey” Season 5, episode 5 will stop for no one -- not even the Super Bowl. The episode will air during the big game, and it looks like it’ll be scandalous. It seems as though Edith’s (Laura Carmichael) secret might be revealed, according to the episode synopsis.
“Edith’s link to Marigold draws attention,” the synopsis teases. Edith is supposed to be staying away from her daughter. In episode 3, Mr. Drewe (Andrew Scarborough) told her to leave the family alone. In the last episode, Mrs. Drewe (Emma Lowndes) slammed the door in Edith’s face when she tried to visit. Edith’s attempts apparently won’t stop, and suspicions will be raised.
Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier) will also raise some suspicions. “Something is wrong with Thomas,” the episode description continues. Last week, Miss Baxter (Raquel Cassidy) suspected that Barrow wasn’t visiting his father but instead was seeking treatment for himself. After she found an ad he dropped that said, “Choose your own path,” it seems Barrow may be seeking treatment because he is gay.
Rose (Lily James) will step away from all of her charity work in episode 5 and meet “a handsome new acquaintance.” His name will be Atticus Aldridge (Matt Barber), and he’ll be around for the rest of “Downton Abbey” Season 5. He might become more than just an acquaintance.
It seems Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) will have another outburst this week. “Bricker (Richard E. Grant) and Robert lose control,” the synopsis adds. What does that mean? Well, it’s going to be more violent than simply storming out during dinner. After all, Bricker revealed his romantic feelings for Lady Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) in episode 4.
