'Dragon Age 4' Update: Why Fans Won't Get A Release Date This Month
Some exciting news about “Dragon Age 4” is expected by the end of this month, but there is little hope of a release date announcement. Sources familiar with the development of the game have reportedly confirmed that the game is still in early stages of development, and it will be a while before the fans will be able to get their hands on it.
There has been a lot of excitement surrounding “Dragon Age” ever since the official BioWare blog announced that they are working on some “secret” “stuff” related to the franchise. The studio considered this an important franchise and wanted to continue the legacy.
The blog teased that there will be some announcement by the end of the month, but it didn’t specify what the announcement will be about or where this announcement will be made. A teaser trailer could give the fans a good idea about what they are working on, and it could get the fanbase excited. However, there may not be a release date announcement just yet.
According to VentureBeat, a few sources have revealed that “Dragon Age 4” is at least three years away from its release. Things are in such an early stage of development that BioWare and EA haven’t even decided the title for the game.
The delay in the release of “Dragon Age 4” may have something to do with BioWare’s focus on the game “Anthem.” However, with The Game Awards fast approaching, they may have something ready to show the fans and may also announce the title there. The focus, however, may still be more on “Anthem” for now, as all the executives gear up to ensure that the game is a success.
According to EuroGamer, there may be an announcement related to “Dragon Age 4” during the Game Awards. This move, the report noted, will earn the studio some brownie points with gamers who have their doubts about “Anthem.” The concerns that some fans reportedly have is the studio’s shift away from story-driven, single player games that it is famous for.
“Anthem” is expected to enter closed alpha testing this week. The game is set to be launched on Feb. 22, 2019 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
“Dragon Age 4” is expected to be released sometime in 2021. This timeline may change if BioWare decides to prioritize the game and help launch it a little early.
