Drake Bell Shares Funny Photo Of Himself After News Broke That He Was Sentenced To 96 Hours In Jail For DUI
Drake Bell is seemingly keeping a lighthearted outlook after he was sentenced to 96 hours in jail and was placed on four years probation for his second DUI conviction.
Just hours after TMZ broke the news of his sentence on Saturday, Sept. 3, Bell shared an Instagram photo of himself making a funny face inside a car. “When you are bored in the car,” the 30-year-old singer-actor captioned the hilarious pic, which seemed to address his sentence.
TMZ reported that the former Nickelodeon star took a plea deal in the case following the misdemeanor charge brought against him for a DUI stemming from an arrest last December.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the “Drake & Josh” actor was taken into custody in Glendale, Calif. on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was reportedly pulled over at 2:20 a.m. by Glendale police for straddling a lane, traveling at a dangerous speed and suddenly stopping at a red light.
Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot told People last year that cops “smelled an odor of alcohol” coming from Bell’s car, so they administered a sobriety test on Bell, which the actor “did not satisfactorily complete.” Bell was then arrested and later released with a citation after posting $20,000 in bail.
The “Ultimate Spider-Man” voice actor was first convicted for a DUI arrest in San Diego, Calif., in 2010, and according to California state law, a second DUI conviction within a 10-year time period mandates a minimum sentence of four days in county jail.
Meanwhile, it was announced earlier this month that Bell would headline the 2016 High School Nation tour scheduled to start on Sept. 26. Just yesterday, Bell expressed his excitement over the forthcoming tour. “Excited to go on the road again with @HSNTours! Looking forward to meeting you all!” he wrote on Twitter.
