Draymond Green Mocked Tristan Thompson About Khloe Kardashian, LeBron James: Report
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green was the one who reportedly provoked the scuffle between him and Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson.
News emerged this week that Thompson got into a fight with Green at the Los Angeles nightspot Delilah, following the ESPY Awards which took place July 18.
Thompson was said to have struck the first blow, with none other than LeBron James and Kevin Durant stepping in to stop the altercation.
Jason McIntyre of Fox Sports was also aware of the incident, adding that Green went up to Thompson to apologize for not shaking his hand after Game 4 of the NBA Finals when the Warriors swept the Cavaliers. He would also make comments during the Warriors' championship parade.
"They want a political answer but the fact of the matter is we just cut from a different cloth," Green said at the Warriors’ championship parade. "It’s a lot of guys in this league … they soft. We just cut from a different cloth."
"That’s all I really got for you. We just ain’t cut the same. I told one of them dudes from the cast after the game, he tried to shake my hand, I said ‘Tristan, we ain’t cut the same.'"
Thompson was not having any of it and proceeded to punch him, but Green didn't go down.
In Game 1, the duo got into an altercation as well when Thompson shoved the ball in Green's face, eventually getting ejected before facing a $25,000 fine. Green later said he was open to facing Thompson on the streets.
But despite most accounts stating Thompson was the aggressor, ESPN's "High Noon" host Pablo Torre has heard differently, claiming it was Green who provoked things by mocking Khloe Kardashian, Thompson's girlfriend, as well as how the departure of James to the Los Angeles Lakers would negatively affect the Toronto native's career.
He, however, added the exchanges were not one-sided.
"What I have learned, talking to people that I trust in these circumstances, is that Draymond was teasing Tristan Thompson at multiple locations that night," Torre said, speaking with Bomani Jones, as quoted on Yahoo. "It turns out there was a party at Highlight Room that LeBron was having. Tristan and Draymond were there. Draymond may or may not have been saying things along the lines of Khloe Kardashian jokes, jokes about how now that LeBron has left Tristan that his career is on the outs."
"And then there was the second location, Bomani, Delilah in Hollywood. And it seems to be another LeBron-type event. And this is where the face-mushing happens. And I would clarify that there were exchanges, I was told – exchanges verbal and physical. It wasn’t a one-sided thing."
Green notably took to Instagram on Wednesday to state all the stories and reports were inaccurate, but he did not specifically state which parts were inaccurate or outright deny the story.
