Drew Barrymore Shares Her Experience With Dating Apps, Encourages Gayle King To Try Them [Watch]
Drew Barrymore opened up about using dating apps to find someone special in her life on her talk show, "The Drew Barrymore Show."
The 46-year-old actress spoke about finding love in a bit called "Drew's News Hour" and she was accompanied by Ross Mathews and "CBS Mornings" show hosts Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson on Thursday.
Barrymore admitted that it is "hard" using dating applications and she often finds herself swiping left on profiles, either because they are too young for her or she doesn't know them.
The actress has previously mentioned that she uses a dating app named Raya, which is a membership-based application for celebrities and high-end profiles.
During the conversation, the actress noted that she uses dating apps every once in a while, and then leaves them because she freaks out. "I dip in and out," the actress admitted. "Everyone once in a while, and then I freak out and jump off," the actress said.
King chimed in, "If I could do it and people wouldn’t know it was me I would do it. I wish I was brave enough to do it I do." The 66-year-old host further noted that she would still prefer the traditional method of dating, which is meeting someone special through mutual friends.
Mathews, who is a contributor on the show, noted that one needs to go outside and sit at a bar alone because if you hang out with your friends, then no one is going to ask you out.
King shared a funny incident where she was pretending to read a book sitting alone at a restaurant.
"I went to a restaurant once by myself and so I’m sitting there with my book and the waiter comes up to me and goes, ‘Excuse me, ma’am, your book is upside down,’ because I wanted to pretend, I was reading," King told Mathews.
"The Drew Barrymore Show" airs on weekdays at 3 p.m. ET on CBS.
Barrymore was last seen in a comedy-drama movie, "The Stand In," which was dropped on Dec. 11, 2020. The movie was directed by Jamie Babbit and it also features Lena Dunham, Michael Zegen, T.J. Miller, Ellie Kemper and Michelle Buteau.
