It may sound rather supernatural! But a "driverless" car – not a self-driving vehicle –parked at a gas station in India started moving on its own and rammed into a two-wheeler, dragging its driver and the pillion rider for several meters. The shocking incident was captured on the surveillance camera.

It happened in the city of Guwahati in the northeastern state of Assam on Nov. 8, Network 18 reported. The vehicle did not appear to be a self-driving model.

Warning: The video may be disturbing to some readers.

The video shows the car moving on its own and hitting a scooter that was a short distance away. It hit the scooter pretty hard, knocking the driver and pillion rider to the ground. It dragged them for several meters before coming to a halt.

A man, seemingly the car owner, ran to the vehicle and managed to stop it by opening its door. The two victims were lying on the ground injured.

People who were present at the scene rushed to the aid of the injured persons and helped them get up. The extent of their injuries wasn't known. It was also not clear if the car owner would face any charges.

A car moving without a driver – either because it was parked wrongly or due to technical issues – can result in accidents and various incidents involving self-driving Tesla cars are proof of it. In one such incident in 2018, a Tesla car operating on autopilot mode crashed into the back of a parked fire truck, which was responding to an accident on Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Culver City Fire Department said the car was traveling at a speed of 65 mph when it rammed into the fire engine, which had its emergency lights on as it was trying to block the accident scene. The car was badly damaged in the crash.
