A drunk woman has been charged with mowing down her 27-year-old daughter before dragging her down the road for 100 meters.

The incident happened in Sydney's south Sunday afternoon. The victim, Keely Palmer, is in a critical condition after being run down by a Toyota hatchback driven by her mother, reports 9 News.

The accused, 58-year-old Dale Palmer, has been charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and high-range PCA.

Police said an inebriated Dale, who was almost three-and-a-half times the legal limit, got behind the wheels of the car after a party at their home. Authorities believe Keely tried to stop her from driving off, when the car allegedly struck her down, before dragging her with it.

Keely was pinned under the car for more than 90 minutes as emergency services tried to free her. She was reportedly conscious and in serious pain.

"She was just bellowing, crying, screaming. It was pretty shocking," neighbor Amber Wardrop-Barros told 9News. "You could just hear screaming… they were saying 'can someone get a jack, can someone get a jack?' So, I thought maybe someone was stuck under a car," she added.

Keely, who was eventually dislodged from under the car, was taken to a nearby hospital in a serious condition with compound fractions to her right arm and leg. She underwent surgery and remains in hospital.

Dale was subjected to a roadside breath test at the crime scene, which came up positive. She was then taken to Sutherland police station for further breath analysis, which showed a blood-alcohol reading of 0.166.

However, police are clueless about what prompted the mother to mow down her daughter. "There was a party there throughout the evening, but as to the reasons why she was in the vehicle they are unknown at this point of time," NSW Police Chief Inspector Gary Ford told 9News.

The police are also looking to get information from anyone who may have been at that party.

Meanwhile, Keely has taken out an apprehended violence order against her mother. Authorities have also suspended Dale's license. She has granted conditional bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court next Wednesday.
