Drunk Passenger Calls Airline Employee ‘Rapist,’ Screams She Has Gun, Is Homeless
A JetBlue passenger was caught on camera accusing one of the airline employees to be a rapist, after her flight was delayed Sunday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Florida.
In one of the videos, filmed by a witness at the airport, the woman was seen trying to hoist herself onto the ticket checking counter and screaming at the staff.
“Who does that to a woman like me? Who? Who?” the woman was heard repeatedly yelling at the employee who was on the phone. “You rapist, get me out of here, get me out of here.”
She then shouted that she was carrying a gun and was homeless before shouldering her bag and walking away from the scene. Someone on the background was heard uttering “What?” in a disbelieving tone, followed by “She said she has a gun!”
In another video, the woman could be seen sitting on airport floor with her head bowed as police handcuffed her.
The person, who recorded and uploaded both videos on Instagram, described the ongoing situation at the time in the airport. “So yesterday I was stuck in the airport for 10hrs as #JetBlue flight was canceled due to a computer failure. They said we would send another plane from New York but this took many hrs. While in Fort Lauderdale airport, everyone remained calm apart from this lone woman who went crazy,” read part of the video caption.
However, a spokesperson from JetBlue Corporate Communications told Yahoo lifestyle that the incident had nothing to do with technical difficulties that their airline was facing on that day.
“On January 6, crew members at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport requested assistance from local law enforcement after a female customer was denied boarding for indications of intoxication and became disruptive,” the spokesperson said, adding, “The customer in the viral video was scheduled on a flight which did not experience any major delays.”
Apparently the gate staff did not let the woman board the flight because she was drunk. There have been a number of instances in the recent past, where flight passengers have misbehaved with airline staff after getting intoxicated.
One of the latest incidents took place on New Year’s Eve, when a Transavia flight bound for Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands, had to make an emergency landing in Portugal because of an unruly British passenger who started getting aggressive and verbally abused co-passengers and cabin crew when the flight was in mid-air.
The situation got so out of hand that the pilot of the aircraft had to enlist help from other passengers to keep the man in check. A number of passengers stepped forward to help the flight attendants.
“He was finally pushed forward and overpowered by crew members and passengers, secured with cable ties and laid on the ground,” the witness said.
