Meghan Markle also owns two rescue dogs a labrador-shepherd named Bogart and a beagle named Guy. The Duchess of Sussex got her first fur baby, Bogart, when she visited a dog rescue shelter. According to Markle, she wasn't sure if she would take the dog home, but Ellen DeGeneres, who also visited the place at the time, urged her to take Bogart home.
“He’s my first dog ever. I didn’t grow up with dogs. I was in LA and I went to this dog rescue [shelter] and they had gotten him and his brother,” Markle told Reader’s Digest Best Health Mag.
“I saw him and I was sitting there with him and then Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi walk in. Now, I don’t now her, but Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’ And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!’ It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something.”
In the end, Markle brought Bogart home. However, according to a recent report, Markle is not taking back her beloved dog home because Bogart doesn't like her husband Prince Harry.
“A close associate revealed Meghan has decided that, for the sake of family harmony, Labrador-German shepherd cross Bogart is in the doghouse,” The Sun's editor Dan Wootton wrote.
“Bogart never took to Harry when they spent time together in Canada,” Wootton’s associate told him.
