Dubbo child care centre mulls relocation as rent hike looms
The management of the Playmates Cottage Child Care Centre in Dubbo is considering relocating the facility in response to the plan of the Greater Western Area Health Service to raise its rent.
Due to the recent events in regards to our current building, we are planning on relocating to new premises sometime in the next two years, Playmates Cottage management committee representative Vicki Bedingfield said Wednesday, according to Daily Liberal.
In the recent negotiation, GWAH offered Playmates Cottage a two-year lease at the Dubbo Base Hospital. Rent for the first year lease will be at half market value. In the second year, the rent will be raised to the full market value.
The only community-based and non-profit centre in Dubbo finds the offer unacceptable so the management is considering relocating to a new site.
Playmates Cottage has been operating the past 25 years. Bedingfield said they still plan to operate for another 25 years.
The centre is marking its 25th year on September 26 with fundraising celebrations, a student art exhibition, auction of group works and a family fun day.
