- Prince Charles made comfort stops at Lady Dale Tyron's home
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles have been happily married since 2005. But before they tied the knot, the Duchess of Cornwall reportedly had a real rival for the heir to the throne.
On the “ Royals” podcast, commentator Angela Mollard said that Prince Charles had a special relationship with Lady Dale Tyron. Even though the two didn’t become official, Prince Charles and Lady Dale adored each other and saw each other all the time.
“She was what a lot of people call ‘the first Camilla’ in that she was a real rival to Camilla. She was very glamorous and she was married to one of Charles’ friends. He apparently described her as the only one who ever properly understood him. Perhaps it was just a really close friendship, who knows?” Mollard said.
Earlier this year, Express journalist Adam Helliker claimed that Prince Charles and Lady Dale got into a relationship years ago. However, the two didn’t end up together because Lady Dale wasn’t considered a suitable partner for the future king.
But even if this was the case, Lady Dale told her journalist friends how Prince Charles would call her to ask if he could drop by her home for a so-called comfort stop.
A friend of Lady Dale previously revealed that she and Prince Charles used to write letters to each other. And the former was very proud of her relationship with Prince Charles that she would leave the letters around so that people would know that they came from the heir to the throne.
However, following Lady Dale’s passing, the letters she and Prince Charles exchanged reportedly went missing.
“One theory is that Anthony, who had always known about the affair, posted them back to Charles. But they could be anywhere; they certainly haven't turned up in all the stuff the family has been sorting through after Lord Tryon's death,” Lady Dale’s friend said.
