  • Camilla Parker Bowles just learned where she really stands in the royal family

Duchess Camilla knows that she will become the future Queen of England after Prince Charles ascends to the throne.

But on Christmas Day, the Duchess of Cornwall must have finally learned how important she really is to Queen Elizabeth and the royal family.

The British clan stepped out for their annual Christmas Day church service and Her Majesty was photographed arriving in a private car with Camilla. In the past, the Queen is usually joined by Prince Philip to and from the church.

According to Royal Central, the gesture just showed how the Queen honors and respects Prince Charles’ wife. It also proves that the monarch has high regard for Camilla.

But on their way back to the palace, the Queen was joined by Sophie, Countess of Wessex in the car. Sophie is the only other daughter-in-law that the Queen has. After all, his son Prince Andrew is no longer married to Sarah Ferguson. The Duke of York didn’t also attend the church service.

Meanwhile, the Queen and Camilla weren’t always close. In fact, royal author Penny Junor previously revealed that Her Majesty wanted the Duchess of Cornwall gone.

In the book “The Firm,” Junor said that the Queen used to be fond of Camilla while she was still married to Andrew Parker Bowles. But after she started dating Prince Charles, the monarch blamed her for all of the problems that the heir to the throne experienced since they tied the knot.

But Prince Charles made it clear to his mom and the rest of the royal family that Camilla was a non-negotiable part of his life. As such, they were left with no other choice but to accept Camilla.

In related news, Camilla also made headlines during her Christmas walkabout after she was photographed wearing the exact same shade of purple as Princess Anne. The two female royals ended up laughing at the hilarious blunder before entering the chapel.
