'Dune' Movie Leaks On Piracy Sites In HD; Fans React
While the highly anticipated movie, "Dune" is slated to release this Friday in theaters and stream on HBO Max, the Warner Bros. Pictures’ sci-fi action drama has been already leaked on many illegal streaming websites in HD quality. Fans couldn't stop sharing their mixed reaction on social media.
The movie, made with a budget of $160 million starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem is streaming for free online.
Moreover, the movie is available with multi-language subtitles including English, Danish, Spanish and Arabic. There are thousands of viewers who are sharing the copies on several torrent websites to spread the movie further for free.
Other recent big-budget movies including "Black Widow" and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" are also available on these illegal websites but they are not available in HD, nor multi-language subtitles are available, yet.
"Dune" was slated to release in theaters and HBO Max simultaneously, which had already left many wonder if the box office collection will see a raise. On top of it, now that the movie is available for free, there is no way to track the number of households that watched the movie.
Fans took to Twitter to share their reaction.
"I know Dune is out today on HBOMAX and it leaked online but I'm not watching it on any screen smaller than IMAX," a fan wrote after learning that the movie has been leaked.
A netizen noted how expensive the tickets are in the theater, even after the movie has been leaked in HD.
One of the fans wrote, "Dune leaked in HD. Tell me now the HBO Max release wasn't a crap strategy. An HD version of the movie wouldn't have been in circulation so soon if not."
Another user noted how the movie's director, Denis Villeneuve "was criticising WB and their business model and now all of a sudden a 4K version of Dune has leaked."
A user shared a screenshot of "Dune" full movie available in 1080p format.
Previously, Sony and Marvel had to release the "Spider-Man: No Way Home" official trailer immediately after it was leaked on the internet in August.
