Dunkin’ Jumps On The Bandwagon With New Menu Offering, But Is It Too Late?
Dunkin’ is gunning for a younger demographic with its latest menu offering, but the coffee chain might be a little too late to the party.
Dunkin’ announced on Wednesday that it was adding Avocado Toast to its menu this spring – a breakfast and brunch option that started trending several years ago.

According to The Washington Post, New York’s Café Gitane has had avocado toast, which features red pepper flakes, on its menu since 2006 and is recognized as one of the originators of the breakfast item.
A few years later, in 2013, the avocado toast revolution really picked up when actress Gwyneth Paltrow published her recipe for the concoction in her cookbook “It’s All Good,” causing an internet obsession, the Post said.
Business Insider reported that searches for avocado toast ramped up in 2016 and said it was named the top breakfast trend in 2017 by health-tracking app MyFitnessPal.
Even Twitter was stunned by the release of avocado toast from Dunkin’ as users of the site quipped that now they were a “millennial.”

Dunkin’s Avocado Toast is made with a spread of avocados, sea salt, black pepper, and lemon juice on toasted Sourdough Bread. The toast is then topped with an Everything Bagel Seasoning that includes sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion, and garlic.
The new menu addition costs $2.99 and is served in a portable box.
Dunkin’ DD Perks members will earn 2X points on Avocado Toast purchases through March 23.
“We’ve taken a popular brunch staple and made it accessible for anyone looking for something easy and delicious to eat on-the-go. With simple ingredients at an affordable price, Dunkin’s Avocado Toast is the latest feel good addition to our evolving menu,” Jill Nelson, vice president, Marketing & Culinary at Dunkin’, said in a statement.
Dunkin’ also added a series of other new food and beverage items to its spring menu, including the Grilled Cheese Melt and Grilled Cheese Melt with Ham – also served on Sourdough Bread – with two varieties of melted cheese (white cheddar and American).
Also new for spring is the Cold Brew with Sweet Cold Foam, Chocolate Stout Cold Brew with Sweet Cold Foam, Charli Cold Foam (a collaboration with social media star Charli D’Amelio), Blueberry Matcha Latte, Irish Creme Flavored Coffee, and Matcha Topped Donut.
