Durant ties season-high haul as Thunder crack T-Wolves
Kevin Durant scored 47 points, matching the season's highest tally, and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 118-117 overtime victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
The NBA's leading scorer tied Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin's performance for the most points in a game this season to win his personal battle with Minnesota forward Kevin Love in the road win.
Durant made a step-back, game-winning jump shot with 28 seconds left in overtime and the Thunder (29-16) overcame Love's own big game of 31 points and 21 rebounds.
It was a fun game to be a part of, Durant told reporters after tying his career-high points haul. Both teams made plays. My team mates did a great job of getting me the ball in spots to score, and I was able to make some (shots).
The Timberwolves (10-35) had a chance to tie the game with seven seconds remaining in the extra session but Corey Brewer missed the second of two free throws.
The NBA's leading rebounder, Love recorded his 31st consecutive double-double in the loss.
