An off-duty New York City Police officer reportedly pulled his gun while at a bar and threatened a female server.

According to the New York Daily News, Hyun Kim, 25, was reportedly at a karaoke bar in the borough of Queens on Tuesday night and was drinking with his sergeant, identified as Jung Kim. Hyun Kim’s gun was visible at the bar.

The pair were approached by a woman working at the bar who asked Kim if he was a “gangster.” Kim, who Daily News sources said was visibly drunk, responded, “no, I’m a cop, and this is my boss.” He then pulled out the gun, racked it, and the magazine fell to the ground.

Kim reportedly waved the gun around before pointing it at the woman. Witnesses said he then told her to come “hang out” or he would shoot her.

While this was occurring, two other waitresses went to the nearby NYPD stationhouse to report the harassment and threats. The pair had reported the incident with the belief Kim might be a civilian who was impersonating an officer. Investigators subsequently found his weapon’s magazine at the bar, saw video from the scene and arrested him Sunday.

Kim and his sergeant have been suspended without pay, though charges have not been brought against the sergeant.
