Dwayne Johnson Reveals One Action Role That He Wanted But Did Not Get

Dwayne Johnson has proven to be one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood in recent times. Every filmmaker wants to work with him and Johnson keeps on proving his worth as an actor every time he appears on the screen. At present, the former WWE star can do any role that he wants, but there was a time when he was losing out roles because he was not one of the biggest star on the planet then.

While doing a Q&A on Facebook, the 47-year-old actor revealed that he lost out on the role of Jack Reacher to Tom Cruise in 2012. The “Rampage” star further stated that he exactly knew why he was not given the role.

Johnson also explained he never thought that he had a shot at the role, but his peers made him believe that the role was made for him.

“Now, this was ten years ago, and I was in a much different place, I recognize that. Tom was the biggest movie star in the world, and I was not. I got the call saying ‘Hey, you did not get the role.’ Look, I did not even know if I had a shot for it, but the people around me at the time made me think that I did. I felt like ‘Why not me?’ (sic)” Johnson said.

Later in the clip, the esteemed actor noted that he has been quite lucky that all the roles he was offered were exclusively created for him.

“Fortunately, for me, there are not a lot of guys who look like me. So, all my roles, from the beginning of my career, I have been a lucky son of a b---- that they have been created and designed for me – except Jack Reacher,” Johnson said.

Cruise was widely criticized for playing the role of Reacher, a fictional character in the novels written by author Lee Child. In the books, the character is described as a guy who is 6 feet 5 inches tall and has a 50-inch chest.

The fans were not thrilled when it was announced that Cruise would be playing the role. After two movies, Child finally confirmed that the “Mission: Impossible” star will not be coming back for future “Jack Reacher” movies.

In related news, Johnson will be next seen in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” alongside Emily Blunt. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in 2021.
