  • "Jungle Cruise" will be available for $29.99 on Disney+ Premier Access

  • "Mulan" and "Raya and the Last Dragon" were also released on Disney with an additional fee

Dwayne Johnson has announced that his upcoming movie, "Jungle Cruise," will be released in theaters and on the Disney+ streaming platform on July 30.

The Jaume Collet-Serra directorial is based on Walk Disney's Jungle Cruise, a theme park in Anaheim, California. The fantasy adventure movie will be available to rent for $29.99 at Disney+ Premier Access.

Taking to Instagram, Johnson wrote: "On JULY 30th JUNGLE CRUISE hits theaters AND your homes worldwide… It’s a pleasure to say WE’RE BACK IN THEATERS! And it’s a pleasure to say, WE WILL ALSO COME TO YOU!"

"Join my ace Emily Blunt (the female Indiana Jones) and myself on THE ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME as our DISNEY’s JUNGLE CRUISE hits theaters and your living rooms ON THE SAME DAY - JULY 30,” he said.

"The most important thing with our movie was to ALWAYS take care of families around the world by giving you options to watch it," he noted. "Audience first. Let’s own our 2021 comeback as we get back into the swing of life - ALL ABOARD!!"

"... a big @teremana toast of gratitude from deep in my bones to a 20-year career dream come true," the actor concluded.

Disney's official Twitter handle also posted the same video of Johnson.

The movie stars Emily Blunt, Jack Whitehall, and Édgar Ramírez in the key roles. Previously, Disney released "Mulan" and "Raya and the Last Dragon" with a similar strategy where subscribers had to pay additional fees to access these movies.

Moreover, Disney is planning to release upcoming movies such as "Black Widow" and "Cruella" in theaters along with Disney+ Premier Access. On the other hand, "Soul" debuted on Disney Plus in December 2020 for free. It seems the streaming giant is experimenting with alternative options amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Besides Jungle Cruise, the 49-year-old former professional wrestler will also be seen in "Black Adam" and "Fast and Furious 10." Both are slated to release next year.
